10 Artists Share Their Creative Process...
An artist's creative process is one of the most intriguing aspects behind an artwork, as each artist has their own unique way of approaching their art practice. However, where does creativity come from? Whether it's sculpting, drawing, or painting, their creative process can either come spontaneously or can be prepared through initial sketches and drafts. Creativity is subjective, deeply personal, and sometimes difficult to be captured on a consistent basis. Many of them keep their mind artistically stimulated by taking walks, going to museums, or reading!  In this article, The Artling looks at 10 artists breaking down their creative process, and sharing what inspires them!...

WOAW Gallery and  Case Studyo have worked together to present “Sandworm” an exhibition by American artist Charlie Roberts, which is now open from now till 19th july at WOAW Gallery at 5 Sun Street in Hong Kong. The show features various mediums: paintings and sculpture, resulting in a diverse and dynamic exhibition that draws on cultural and science fiction references. The title “Sandworm” is inspired by American science fiction novelist Frank Herbert's work "Dune" published in 1965. In his novel, Frank Herbert imagines a future on the planet Arrakis thousands of years later where a rare and holy drug named “Melange” is sought for by humanity. The usage of the drug allows the ability to predict the future and prolong life. The protagonist in the novel is determined to get his hands on “Melange”, however, is met by the gatekeeper of the treasure, the Sandworm. The giant Sandworm is able to detect any vibrations on the ground and will devour anyone in search of “Melange”. Therefore, the show titled "Sandstorm" takes its name from this reference: the gatekeeper to a highly prized magical drug. ...

Hiroshi Senju unveils his first new works since 2015...
Hiroshi Senju has just completed a dynamic series of Waterfall paintings, his first since 2015, which are now being exhibited across a three-city exhibition. They will be showing at Sundaram Tagore's New York galleries (Chelsea and Madison Avenue) and will then travel to London for the opening the gallery's new space at Cromwell Place in London, followed by another exhibition at their Singapore gallery at Gillman Barracks.  "For this group of waterfalls Senju began his creative process on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The pristine beauty of Hawaii has inspired Senju’s work in the past, but it was the rugged, almost prehistoric landscape of Oahu’s northern side that struck a chord. “There are places where you can feel the energy of the beginning,” he says. “Here, I can feel the echo, the vibration of the Earth and the energy of Earth’s creation.” The artist has a profound connection to and love of nature. He has been conveying in paint its power and ability to inspire awe for more than 30 years....

Treat nature in terms of the cylinder, the sphere, the cone, everything in proper perspective.”  The Artling presents 10 contemporary artists using media ranging from photography to graphite pencil, to capture nature and share their connection with the environment!...

"UNSCHEDULED" by Edouard Malingue Gallery...
As part of UNSCHEDULED, Edouard Malingue Gallery is presenting a booth featuring artist Chou Yu-Cheng (b. 1976, Taiwan). Chou Yu-Cheng’s practice builds, across multiple mediums, a subtle critique of mass media, institutions, and the mechanisms that produce them. A graduate from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and the research programme La Seine, Chou has gained international recognition for his dialectical interplay between the source and results of his creations. Through his selective conversations, Chou shapes a minimal yet deliberate set of intellectual and aesthetic tricks, which ultimately play on the properties of art, object and space. Organised by Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, UNSCHEDULED features 12 galleries each exhibiting solo presentations with a focus on modern and contemporary art that has a connection to Asia.   In light of the cancellation of the March art week, UNSCHEDULED strives to re-energise Hong Kong's art scene. Neither a traditional art fair, nor a museum exhibition, UNSCHEDULED is a platform for selling and networking that will present solo exhibitions from HKAGA gallery members. Upholding Hong Kong's unique place as the art centre in Asia, UNSCHEDULED's scope is rooted in a commitment to creativity emerging from the continent....
