Known for their exploration of the relationship between humans and nature through art and the use of digital technology, teamLab has continued to amaze the art world with exciting interactive digital installations since the group was founded in 2001.

On show from 22 January 2018 - 10 February 2018 at Ikkan Art Gallery, Singapore, teamLab will be presenting a collection of monitor-based works that surrounds the complexities of nature and temporality.

Part of this solo exhibition is a 9 - channel vertical tableau that features the budding and blossoming of flowers till their withering state over the course of a year, entitled Continuous Life and Death at the Now of Eternity. Illustrating the passing of time - this digital work is simultaneously synchronised with the actual sunrise and sunset timings of where the flowers are located with the brightening and darkening of the digital works.

As one moves through the exhibition, teamLab re-enforces the idea of nature and the fragility of life with the depiction of cherry blossoms through the work, Impermanent Life.

Furthermore, Cold Life is a single-channel digital work that depicts a calligraphic series of brush strokes modeled in virtual 3D space that forms the character “生 ”, representing life in both Japanese and Mandarin. Viewers are mesmerised as the strokes transform into a highly complex and elaborate 3D rendering of a tree filled with life.

Also featured in the show is a 4-metre long vista of waves that unfolds unendingly (Gold Waves), as well as The Land of Peace and Bliss, a 6-channel panoramic view of the building of  a new capital city and the stories of characters within. Lastly, visitors will also be able to send and view well wishes through the eponymous smartphone app, reflected in the 4-metre tall virtual tree as part of the group’s digital installation, Message Pillar.

teamLab’s thought-provoking installations are virtual experiences not to be missed!
