Item Description
This is the first extensive survey of the art of Milenko Prvacki.
Recognised as a major artist who has contributed to the cultural life of Singapore, he was honoured with a cultural Medallion in 2012. Prvacki has lived in Singapore for some twenty-two years following his life in his home country of Serbia before the civil war. This book surveys the past forty years of his practice, the continuities and discontinuities between his Yugoslav and Singapore periods.
Copiously illustrated, the book "After memory: The Art of Milenko Pracki - 40 years" is accompanied by a major essay by its author Charles Merewether and a guest essay by Sava Stepanov. Through these essays, we learn of the character of Prvacki's early work, full of wry dark humour satirising the lifestyle of those in power. Much of this work draws upon the power of his drawings and sketches.
