Frontend Engineer

We are looking for a self-driven individual with expertise in building highly interactive web applications with JavaScript and ReactJS and a keen eye for details and graphics design to join The Artling team!

Over the past three years, our web stack has greatly evolved. We are still using Python and Django on the backend, but instead of classic REST APIs we are now using GraphQL. Likewise, on the frontend, instead of using jQuery and Twitter Bootstrap, we are now using ReactJS and React-Apollo as much as we can.

We have two brands (theartling.com and luxglove.com) and while both sites have very similar features, the devil is in the detail. This is why we need you! We need someone with rock solid HTML & CSS skills who also loves to work with JavaScript and especially ReactJS. Your task will be to identify all elements on both sites and work closely with our in-house designer to create beautifully crafted, well tested and easy to use reusable components that the team can then use on both sites to build features as fast as possible. We also have a mobile app (“Luxglove”), which needs pretty much the same components using ReactNative, so you will also contribute to that.

As an eCommerce site and a marketplace we also have a constant need to visualize metrics and data and have an urgent need to make our own internal tools more beautiful and more intuitive to use.

To excel in this job, you should have expertise in the following technologies:

  • HTML & CSS (4 years expertise)
  • JavaScript (2 years expertise)
  • ReactJS & ReactNative (1 year expertise)
  • Git
  • styled-components
  • react-apollo
  • react-redux
  • Jest
  • Webpack
  • UI testing with PhantomJS
  • UNIX-like operating systems (we use MacOS, our servers use Ubuntu)
  • Python & Django (would be a plus)

If you are interested in this position, please send your resume to our CTO Martin Brochhaus (martin@theartling.com). Please also provide a link to your github profile and links to at least two web projects that you have done in the past.

SEO/SEM Manager

We are looking for a highly-motivated individual with expertise in "growth hacking" to join The Artling team!

We need someone who is 100% self-driven and determined to make a change. This is not the kind of job where you open up your inbox and pick the next few tasks given to you by your boss. If we knew what tasks should be done next, we would just do them right now.

This is the kind of position where you bombard us with questions until you have a full understanding of our product, our target audience and the market and then come up with crazy ideas on how to drive growth.

You need to work in a highly structured way, form a thesis, document it, implement it (need good communication skills with the rest of the team), monitor it (important!), and then tweak it (or dismiss it) based on actual data.

Key Management Responsibilities

  • Define requirements, tasks, and resources associated to SEO strategy
  • Manage and execute implementation of SEO strategy
  • Communication to team, and management on strategy/project development, timelines, and results
  • Stay up to speed with SEO, search engine, social media and web marketing industry trends and development

Key Functional Responsibilities

  • Perform keyword research in coordination with client business objectives to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities
  • Provide SEO analysis and recommendations in coordination with elements and structure of websites and web pages
  • Provide recommendations and execute/manage strategies for content development in coordination with SEO goals – general and keyword specific
  • Help to create and support marketing content to socialize and use for social media purposes (e.g. customer videos briefs, customer case studies, blog posts, posts from analysts and customers)
  • Develop and implement link building campaigns
  • Develop, manage and execute communication/content strategies via social communities in coordination with goals
  • Implement and administer search engine programs (XML sitemaps, shopping feeds, webmaster tools)
  • Monitor and evaluate search results and search performance across the major search channels in order to improve rankings
  • Research and administer social media tools in support of clients’ social media strategy
  • Monitor and evaluate web analytics dashboards and reports in order to develop and recommend SEO strategies
  • Communication to team and management on project development, timelines, and results

Professional Competencies

  • Passion!
  • Strategic and creative thinking
  • Attention to detail
  • Multi-tasking capability
  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate thoughts and points
  • High levels of integrity, autonomy, and self-motivation
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management and time management skills

If all the above sounds like a challenge you would accept, don't hesitate! Drop us an email at contact@theartling.com and tell us a bit about yourself!

Part-Time Staff Writer

As The Artling grows as an online art gallery, we also hope to become one of the primary resources for content on contemporary art in Asia. We are seeking part-time staff writers to write articles for our Artzine, relating to Asian art events and exhibitions happening regionally and internationally.

We are looking for a motivated, independent individual who will be able to deliver thoroughly-researched and interesting articles. The writer would be expected to pitch 3-4 article ideas per month to our team, and proceed with writing and researching whichever articles are selected. The role would also involve uploading the article to our website. Articles should be between 500-1500 words in length, and be accompanied by copyright-free/approved images.

The ideal candidate must speak and write in English fluently, and be able to deliver according to strict deadlines. A background in Art History or knowledge of the Art & Design fields is preferable. As this is a part-time position, writers can work remotely, although if they are based in Singapore, they also have the option of working from our office in central Singapore.

Send us your CV and 2-3 writing samples to contact@theartling.com with the subject ‘Part-Time Staff Writer Application.’ Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Agencies: Please don’t contact us. We are not seeking to outsource work. We want to grow our team permanently.
