Artist Statement

'Imaginary drinks' is the project to translate human senses (smell, taste) into vision (sight) in
ceramics. Relating to eating/drinking activity, the idea stems from my childhood how I build up
memories and perception about the taste.
Focusing on tactility, this sculptural vessel leads viewer to the Synesthesia experience while featuring imaginative, extraordinary and pop-up textures.

The surface/color of each piece is reminiscent of certain flavor/taste to give imagination to the viewer.
Inspiration comes from the abstract feeling of taste like sour, sweet, fizzy, bitterness.
The colours and surface texture of my work turned this abstractness into tangible and vibrant visual language in ceramics.
My object is in between function and non-function, this artistic work is not only featuring the technical skills as a well made craft but also suggesting the dialogue and narrative of objects in contemporary context whilst throwing a question the area between Craft, Design and Art.
