Cue the fanfare! Introducing Willem-Alexander (as in the King of the Netherlands). Willem-Alexander is a one-of-a-kind lamp lovingly handcrafted from a rare, antique (1912), hand-painted Royal Delfts (De Porceleyne Fles) Delft Blue (Delfts Blauw) vase.

We’ve paired its bold blue and white floral design, painted by a Delft master painter, with a gorgeous iridescent saffron yellow Dupion silk custom contemporary lampshade made by an atelier near Amsterdam.

This lamp most definitely has a royal vibe!

Height: 50 cm (19.7 in) with shade
Width: 35 cm (13.8 in) with shade
E27 fitting

More information: De Porceleyne Fles, later given the distinction of Koninklijke or Royal, known now as Royal Delft, is a Dutch manufacturer of Delft Blue pottery, or Delfts Blauw aardewerk, headquartered in Delft, the Netherlands. It is the only remaining ceramics factory out of 32 that were established in Delft during the 17th century. Founded in 1653, it has been active for over 360 years without interruption. Royal Delft is not only the oldest surviving producer of Delftware, but one that is highly respected for its artistry. The motifs on Delft Blue ceramics find their roots in the Chinese porcelain from the Ming and K‟ang Hsi dynasties.

Hand-painted Royal Delft items can be identified at the bottom by the De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles mark (a jar, the initials: JT, the city: Delft). To the lower left of this are the painters’ initials or symbol; to the lower right the year code. Most articles also contain a number which is an internal kiln/firing code. This vase is marked with the initials of master painter Lingen, Th.A.B. v., who worked at De Porceleyne Fles from 1893-1945, and the year code, AH=1912.
