Broken shells, coral, and seaweed are conveyed within the structure and surface of this Fluted form totemic form. This work came about after many hours spent walking and photographing discoveries along the rugged coastline of Australia. Willner’s studio process then began with sculpting shapes using hand-building coil technique, then carving to achieve curves and angles. The twisted coil is revealed in the hollow of the vessel. The bubbly bleached pink eroded surface is an application of glaze that is the signature of my work. Her intent is to replicate the feeling of well-being and energize our spirits when walking in nature and bring this energy to our own homes.
