Artist statement
A project inspired by ceramic handcrafted head vases from Sicily which are called Teste di Moro.
Our collection translates these masterpieces from ceramic into leather as a tribute to Sicilian ceramic maestros and to our homeland, with vibrant colours and perky elements.
This eccentric vase cover consists of two separate parts that represent the faces of two lovers - a Moorish man and a young Sicilian maiden from a bloody love and revenge story from the medieval legend. The two parts then can be assembled by the two tuna fishes that shape the vase cover into a unique design piece.
