Artist statement
A project inspired by ceramic handcrafted head vases from Sicily which are called Teste di Moro.
Our collection translates these masterpieces from ceramic into leather as a tribute to Sicilian ceramic maestros and to our homeland, with vibrant colours and perky elements.
This eccentric object consists of three separate parts that represent the faces of two lovers - a Moorish man and a young Sicilian maiden from a bloody love and revenge story from the medieval legend and the bottom part that represents the sun, one of the the symbols of Sicily.
To enjoy 'Aegusa Ranni' charm, have your plant in the vase ready. Assemble the two faces of the leather Testa di Moro with the two decorative tuna fishes by snap buttons and surround the pot as a decorative cover. Or assemble the leather bottom too and 'Aegusa Ranni' can be used as a storage bin.
