Artist Statement
This Sculptural Ceramic has been made with moulds, delicate carved and decorated with white and red glazes and fired in Raku.
This ceramic is inspired by the delicate nature of the world and its inherent strength. This piece represents our mother earth from de inside.
The carves are deep and precise, making the process of building it very delicate but once is fired, it has all the strength that fired ceramics have. Raku is my favourite firing technique as it is completely unpredictable but always produce the most fantastic colours and paterns resulting from the oxides used on the glazes. The most wonderful alchemy of colours is created once the ceramics are deprived of oxygen.

Artist Profile
Born: 1968
Hometown: London
Based in: London
I am a British/Colombian contemporary ceramics artist, I have lived and travelled in many counties around the world and it is the variety of cultures and art that has inspired my ceramic's work. I have spent the last 15 years learning and exploring ceramic techniques and now I’m dedicated to create and exhibit my ceramics. Recently I've been teaching ceramics to small groups of adults and youngsters in my studio.
I love working with clay as it allows me open exploration. I enjoy experimenting and combining various materials and I’m always trying new techniques, glazes and firing methods. I have an open way of thinking which comes from being in contact with multiple cultures both by living in London and also for my extensive travelling.
I use a variety of techniques including hand building, throwing and slip casting and I also use different firing techniques being Raku the one I enjoy the most.
