Artist Statement

A contemporary wabi sabi sculptural furniture piece that can function as a design object, furniture, footstool, serving tray, low bedside table, low-end table, or as a simple sculpture. Handcrafted by sculptor and designer Laurie Poast of Scandinavia, this japandi style home decor suits minimalist Scandinavian modern interior design. This piece suits the kitchen countertop with beautiful vegetables, on the table with an arrangement of fruit, in the foyer to sit on while you put on your shoes, in the bathroom next to the bath, at the side of the bed, or on a living room low furniture grouping.

Spheres, curves, angles, and proportions intuit the early laws of aesthetics to recast our modern theory of beauty into the simplicity, order, and harmony born out of classical antiquity’s artistic principles. This sculptural work departs from classic geometries and indulges instead in a wabi-sabi, amorphic expression of brutal scandinavian minimalism.
