Artist Statement
Porcelain paper clay vase. Transparent mat glaze inside. Cast in cardboard disposable molds. Single fired at 1260 Celsius, oxidation. Crafted in 2019.
Dedicated to one of my favourite Italian artists: Fausto Melotti. I was inspired by his famous “Luna” vase and I was pleased to give my interpretation of this iconic piece, using porcelain paper clay. I tried to keep the lightness, the grace and the delicateness of Melotti's work with a contemporary touch.
"Faustina" is available only on request. Every piece made will be different from another because the cardboard mold became useless after the first casting process and every piece will have different deformations.
