The single flower vases in this series are made from 300 grams of clay. Currently I’m trying to figure out how many varieties of shapes I can create from these amounts of clay.
It stimulate my imagination when I think of this series of works that are born under the same rule, and would eventually travel around the world.

Nozomi Fujii was born in 1976 in Mie Prefecture, Japan. During her childhood, she was obsessed with the idea of creating things by her own as well as the systematic process of making , which eventually became the source of her creative ceramic artworks.
She graduated from Shizuoka University Faculty of Agriculture Department of Forest Resource Science in 1999. The technical methods of research she learnt in the university also constructed her current style of ceramic creation.
She studied ceramic art at Tokoname City Municipal Ceramic Art Laboratory for one year. She has participated in domestic solo & group exhibitions since 2009.
In 2020, she was invited to 1000 VASES in Paris.
What makes Nozomi focused on using pottery wheels in her works, is the absolute limitation given by its concentrical movement, which only allows her to shape clays symmetrical.
In order to bring out natural colors as well as a character of original texture from clays themselves, she does not use glaze. By doing so, the artist can extract the primitive sense of non-materialistic ancient times, and visualize them in a modern style.
