Artist Statement

Reading seat

Deconstruction of LC4, inspired by the first stage of Charlot Perriand, with a frozen aesthetic and machinist, using techniques and industrialized materials. Materials and processes of creation that, throughout history, have been related to masculinity.

Besides a tribute, it is also conceived as a criticism of the few female references throughout the history of design. Deconstructing it to abstract its form, leaving only the soul, gives rise to a social criticism about common, figurative and stipulated forms and how society perceives them and rejects them from their daily lives if these forms do not fall within their normality.
Rejecting these different forms to the point of granting the uselessness to a being or object totally useful.

Paula Claveria experiments with abstract theories to discuss the terminology of daily objects and their visual perception, creating functional sculptural pieces. The abstraction of these figurative forms result in the so-called “non-form” objects”, without altering the function for which they were created.

Clavería born and raise in Aragón, Spain. Deeply enriched from the craft enviroment and the sculptors from the region. Interested in philosophical theories she develops her own theories centered of the daily objets as figurative art studing the abstraction, the humanitation of the objects and self-proding them. Now she is based in Madrid after she lived in Berlin.
