Artist Statement

A Noste, translates from the Gascon language into “home”, is a landscape reflection of the Landes de Gascogne national park situated in the beautiful Bordeaux region in France.

The landscape is often defined as monotonous, composed of elements such as water, sand, and forest, which at first sight does not seem to blend together as a whole, but rather as a contrast to each other. However when paying more attention, we start to see the dialogue present, that creates the landscape and how the element is intertwined.

The desire to transcribe this dialogue through the “A Noste” collection is reflected in the articulation of contrasting yet fundamentally similar elements. They are distinguished by their form, their manufacturing process, and their language. A series of entanglements ensue between them, creating a dialogue, a tension, a story to the whole.

The A Noste collection has been created in exclusivity for Galerie SORS. The work is carved and finished entirely by hand in the artist’s workshop in Southern France.
