Artist Statement
The rise side table is part of the narrative continuity initiated by the wall sculpture wild, power of the free spirit. The image of a singular element extricating itself from the rigid and hierarchical framework of a society in neutral.
The pyramidal base, at the beginning of this narration, illustrates this social structure distributing in an unequal way its powers and its wealth. An element comes to split this base, marking its will to break free of the frame, rising above it. A rejection of the system and its codes leading to a new birth of identity.
Gradually, this identity reveals its singularity, its own nature (as if polished by experience), becoming clearer as it evolves. It thus marks its opposition to the rigidity, the uniform and obscure character from which it takes root.
The work is carved and finished entirely by hand in the artist’s workshop in Southern France.
