The main inspiration for this series of objects was the “vernacular” DIY furniture, which is produced by Russian construction workers out of the materials available to them on building sites. They will use the scrap and detritus of these sites to construct benches or tables, for their own everyday use.
We carefully archived and photographed these objects on the building sites which we supervised as an architect. The peculiar yet complex shape is emphasised by the use of a solid black colour.
