Artist Statement
The JAMAKHAN Stripe cushion is inspired by Bhavani ‘Jamakkalams’, the colourful, graphic and often oversized floor-coverings used in homes and at weddings and public events in and around the region of Tamil Nadu in southern India. Our contemporary take on this iconic textile was created in collaboration with textile designer Sagarika Sundaram and features a striking geometric pattern in pink, yellow and white or grey, yellow and white. Hand-woven out of high-grade Erode cotton, the Jamakhan cushion is hand-dyed to create a softer fade-proof finish.
