Artist Statement
In this duo of two sculptural floor lamps, two texture plays protagonist— one refined, one raw. Each pillar has an intentional carved incision that juxtaposes the raw-to-refined discourse. An organic hand blown glass globe that resembles crumpled paper is paired with it.
Constructed from waste paper pulp and natural binders, each product is hand sculpted and sun dried. This piece is a part of 3 4 7 4— an ensemble that is an ode to the indigenous craft of Paper Mache in Kashmir, India. Launched at Salone Satellite 2022.
Each piece is meticulously hand-sculpted in several layers and sun dried, embracing slow production and indigenous processes. All the material from products that don’t make it to their final stages are re-used in this circular production method reducing all our workshop waste to almost zero. Each piece is made-to-order and handmade in India
