Bharti Trivedi is a self-taught, California based fiber artist. Having been a creative soul ever since childhood, she lives and breathes creativity and always feels the need to create something beautiful. Growing up in India, her deep connection to the outdoors was a precursor to her eventual, tactile love with natural fibers.
Working with natural fibers, the artist derives her inspiration from natural elements and weaves her sensory experiences in the wilderness into textured wall hangings to bring the outside in. Each piece adds a warm accent to a range of interior styles, whether it be a minimalist entryway or a beach house bedroom. Easily mounted, they are a tasteful solution for an empty wall, or a thoughtful house-warming gift. She wants her art enthusiasts to feel the touch and warmth of human hands in each of her pieces. She aim for a timeless aesthetic so that the work can be appreciated for years to come.
"I believe that rope has immense potential to transform itself from a linear form to a dense expandable 3D form. It can lay flat and folded and then can be activated into a textural oasis in the form of a tapestry or a wall sculpture. All art comes from the heart and I really like to work with natural fibers and listen to what these materials are telling me!"
What inspires you?
I get inspired by colors and textures found in the nature. I love combining natural elements, soft earthy color palettes and rare textures to all my original art pieces. Bringing together colors, forms and personal expression, art has always been a passion for me for creating unique artwork that fill in the space with warmth and joy.
Describe your creative process.
My art is a continuous exploration of texture, dimension, and scale. I use labour intensive hand knotting techniques such as macramé, twining, and weaving, to create my fiber-art. My process involves working from muscle memory in an almost meditative state, while establishing the connection with my source of inspiration to get the desired form. Using only my two hands as tools, I like my materials to dictate to me how and when they will be used in my pieces.
