StudioNotte is an Italian product design studio founded in Milan in 2019 by Luisa Alpeggiani and Camila Campos. The two designers explore the roots of Italian craftsmanship and its great masters, but also the possibilities that technology and new materials can give. The results are pieces produced in small series, poised between their functional aspect and highly refined aesthetics that dialogue with unexpected matter.
Whether it is furniture or small objects for the home, StudioNotte wants with its projects to establish a dialogue with the customer and with its observers.
What inspires you?
We love to explore worlds and fields not necessarily related to product design, to find new sources of inspiration. The intent is to open our eyes even in unexpected directions to take what good can come from unexpected areas.
Describe your creative process.
The creative process begins with the desire to explore an area or with the need to solve small daily hitches. From there we proceed by spirals of reasoning and experimentation, until the path that will lead us to the resolution of the goal is defined.
What are 3 words that best describe your work?
Care, play and experimentation
Who are some artists that have influenced your work?
Olafur Eliasson, Wes Anderson and Alexander Calder
What is the most important tool when creating your work?
For Luisa being able to shape the material, while Camila thinks about shapes using 3D modelling tools
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
The best advice we received as designers was surely never give up. It is a wonderful profession, but it is also a constant challenge.
Where do you go for inspiration?
To inspire us we often happen to wander around the city aimlessly. We look, we listen, we use all 5 senses to open ourselves to possibilities to explore
