Hometown: Saint Amand en Puisaye
Based in: Saint Amand en Puisaye
After completing his education in Britain, Alistair travelled extensively, first in Europe then in India and West Africa. He finally settled in St Amand en Puisaye, in France in 2003 to start a new journey, this time in ceramics.
Around 2014 Alistair started using high firing stoneware and porcelain, as a medium to create his hand painted black and white vessels. The motifs are the result of hours spent drawing. Inspiration is drawn from different cultures, ranging from Tibetan mandalas and Indian mehndi designs, to traditional tattoos. All motifs are original and painted freehand.
Simple, contemporary forms with hand painted black on white motifs. An range of timeless pieces for indoors or outdoors.
Stoneware, and it’s characteristic solidity and resistance to the elements, make it the obvious choice for outdoor and indoor ceramics alike. Porcelain, the finest of all the ceramic materials gives the white canvas upon which the metallic oxides, painted freehand, bring the piece to life through a range of original motifs.
