Lives and Works: Hangzhou
CHEN Min, born 1980 in Hangzhou, lives and works in Hangzhou.
Chen Min Design Office is a multi-faceted practice established by industrial designer Min Chen, whose production ranges from the design of objects to technological products and interior architecture. Born into an artistic family in Hangzhou, China, he graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands and Domus Academy in Milan, Italy, before setting up his own office in 2012. He has been invited to exhibit at Salone del Mobile for more than 10 years, and has been described by design magazine ICON as ‘the most talented local designer in China’. As the only finalist of Loewe Craft Prize 2018 in China, Chen and his Hangzhou Stool sparked a new wave of Chinese crafts in London, and he was subsequently invited by the Loewe Foundation to be a judge of its Craft Prize 2019.
