Based in: Singapore
Winnie Wong is a Singaporean art director turned artisan who graduated with BA(Hons) in Graphic Communication from NAFA and Loughborough University.
Winnie founded Gold & Behold in 2017 as a creative outlet for her to heal from depression. Now, she actively advocates mental wellness, women empowerment and body positivity through her body of works.
As a creative explorer, Winnie works span across various mediums and philosophies, including resin, concrete, Jesmonite, acrylic, and most recently, modern Kinstugi.
Winnie dived into the art of Kinstugi in 2021 and is currently the only modern Kinstugi artisan in Singapore to make Kinstugi accessories like earrings, barrettes and brooches.
The act of breathing a new lease of life into flawed/broken objects is liberating and provides active mediation for Winnie. Winnie practices Kintsugi in hopes to condition her mind to embrace imperfections, flaws and accidental art.
Winnie has worked with well-loved local and international brands such as Sulwhasoo, Love Bonito and &REA. Her works have also been featured on Tatler Singapore.
"As humans, we tend to hide our shortcomings, imperfections, weaknesses etc. Through Kintsugi, I feel calm and in control when I pick up the broken pieces piece by piece and bind them stroke by stroke to make it complete again."
