Tania Whalen is a ceramic artist originally from London currently based in Brooklyn.
She takes inspiration from forms in nature, architecture, and ancient art. Creating work for both functionality and beauty, she honors the identity of the medium she works with and its root in the natural world, while aiming for a modern sensibility in her work.
All vessels are hand built primarily employing the pinch & coil method. Irregularities in forms, glazes, drips and finishes are embraced and add to the beauty of the handmade object.
Not all forms are created equal and thus each piece is completely unique.
