Lot 46: Franklin-BL

Info

Il lee spends weeks, and even months, building lup layers of scribbled ink to create his minimalist, enigmatic lineworks. Franklin-BL is the result of his recent focus on monoprints and limied-run etchings that extend the lexicon of his mark making. Named after a street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, this work is a departure from Lee's well-known looping style. Instead, overlapping lines of discrete lengths fill up the paper, imparting a sense of urgency and energy.
