Lot 56: A Shadow that Stays on the Moving Train (Self-portrait/Tai Wai KCR Station/30 Seconds/2004-3-29)

Info

One of Hong Kong's most well-known conceptual artists thanks to his weekly columns in Ming Pao's Sunday supplement between 2004 to 2006, Pak Sheung Chuen deconstructs everyday experiences into unexpected encounters. Pak's photograph of his shadow on the moving MTR train is a meditation on solitude, with the figures reflected on the train vanishing when the train leaves. Like his other works, A Shadow that Stays on the Moving Train draws personal and emotional connections from anonymous and often mundane situations.
