Lot 66: Blowing the Wind

Info

One of the artists invited to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the Department of Asian Art at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2016, Wu Jian'an combines traditional folk art with his interest in patterns of connectivity. Blowing the Wind is one of four works thematically related to his Rainbow series shown at Chambers New York in 2012. Paper-cut clouds drift among different fantastical figures-metaphors for th eternal circulation of th elife force in reincarnation-offering viewers a glimpse of a hidden metaphysical world.
