Info

With his experience in the hipari dashi pottery technique, wherein pieces are pulled out at the height of firing, the late potter Nagaoka Masami was feted for his lively, beautifully textured pottery. Nagaoka was inspired by the seventeenth century Momoyama period, during which potters reached new heights of technique, sophisitcation, and creativity. Nagaok's own work, using Shigaraki clay famous for its depth of colour and quality, has a similar exuberance expressed in exquisite lines and a bold sense of movement.
