Lot 59: Untitled

Info

German ceramic artist Sebastian Stöhrer shapes his sculptures without a source material during the moulding process to imbue them with a sense of being alive. The paddle-like form of this sculpture is both familiar and peculiar, calling to mind a half-forgotten underwater creature, its surreal appearance substantiating the director of Moderna Museet, Stockholm Daniel Birnbaum's comparison of Stöhrer's works to the oeuvre of science fiction writer Philip K. Dick.
