Paolo Miguel Riego Larioza, is a Filipino artist currently residing in Singapore. He is from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ Graduating Batch of 2018. With early exposure to the arts at a young age, and appreciation for works by the old masters, he is proficient in both classical portraiture and figurative art through the use of various mediums such as graphite, charcoal and predominantly oil paint.
His inspirations come from pop-culture, as well as the intangible and the ephemeral, and incorporates these ideas and visual imagery into his works.
Exploring the concepts of Life, Death and the Spiritual, his works aim to capture the intangibility of his subjects through explicit use of his mediums that produce haunting, often sombre, yet ethereal imagery.
Using traditional mediums to unconventional mediums such as oil paint to the soot produced by smoke, the medium speaks of the ephemerality of the subject, fragility of life itself and the beauty it encompasses.
He is also an aspiring tattoo artist.
