For more than 30 years, Park Ryu Sook Gallery has been committed to introducing progressive contemporary art to both domestic and international market. Founded in 1983 by the eponymous art dealer, Park Ryu Sook Gallery is recognized as the pioneer of creating what is now a vibrant contemporary art scene in Gangnam area of Seoul.
The gallery has contributed to establishing the careers of some of Korea’s most important artists, from the first generation of Korean modern/contemporary artists including Kim Tschang Yeul, Park Seo Bo, Chun Kwang Young and Kim Chong Hak, to today’s most promising artists including Choi Jeong Hwa, Kim Joon, Lee Seung Hee and Yoo Seung Ho.
Consequently the gallery has been committed to promoting Korean contemporary art in overseas by participating in international art fairs including Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Cologne, Art Chicago, SH Contemporary, Art Basel Hong Kong and more. The gallery also has been introducing leading international artists to domestic audiences, providing opportunities to observe the current development in the contemporary art world. By working closely with leading institutions in Korea and Asia including Leeum, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, Nam June Paik Art Center, Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art, Today Art Museum, MoCA Shanghai and others, the gallery aims to provide bigger platforms for artists.
