MISA SHIN GALLERY

About

Established in 2010, MISA SHIN GALLERY continues to present cutting-edge exhibitions, introducing both local and international artists who express themselves through a conceptual approach.

The gallery has presented bold and unique exhibitions by globally recognized artists including AI Weiwei, TOMATSU Shomei and Ken LUM to a broad audience. Other artist the gallery represents includes mid-career artists such as BACK Seung Woo, Shingo FRANCIS, IBA Yasuko, TORIMITSU Momoyo, SHIMIZU Jio, SHINODA Taro, and OZAWA Tsuyoshi, aiming to give them their rightful position in the history of art. The gallery also represents one of the significant artists from postwar Japan, HIKOSAKA Naoyoshi, introducing his works to contextualize in art history.

Our further objective is to seek a relationship between art and other disciplines, such as architecture, as exemplified by the exhibitions of ISOZAKI Arata. The gallery also represents TAKAYAMA Akira, a theater director, who develops projects go beyond the framework of existing theater, such as project based installations in the urban space or video installations in museums, and experimental social projects inviting a public audience.

In addition to gallery exhibitions, MISA SHIN GALLERY actively offers consultation to corporate art collections in Japan. The gallery also involved in public art projects in Zhengzhou, China, and in Doha, Qatar.

The gallery is located in Shirokane in central Tokyo, a historically industrial area that still contains small factories. The gallery space is housed in a former ironworks factory.
