Leeahn Gallery currently runs two galleries in Daegu and Seoul, South Korea. In 2007 Leeahn was first established in Daegu - the birthplace of Korean modern art - by founder, Hye Ryung Ahn. A second branch of Leeahn opened in 2013 in the traditional architectural and cultural district of Seochon, Seoul to facilitate our devotion in the rapidly growing art scene of Korea.
Leeahn Gallery has played a key role in revitalizing the art scene of Daegu since the early 2000s by providing great opportunities to people living in Daegu and Seoul to experience the works of world renowned Korean masters such as Nam June Paik, Kang So Lee, Dong Youb Lee, Ho Deuk Kim, Tchunmo Nam, Lee Nam Lee, and Myung Mi Lee. Leeahn also hosts the solo exhibitions of world renowned international artists such as Andy Warhol, Alex Katz, A.R. Penck, Jennifer Steinkamp, Patricia Piccinini, Wu Ming Jong, Aldo Chaparro, Eve Sussman, David Salle, Frank Stella, and more.
Leeahn Gallery plays a pivotal role as a platform to promote and globalize Korean provincial art by showcasing their solo exhibitions 3-4 times a year. Furthermore, Leeahn greatly devotes our resources to expose new talented regional artists who receives less exposure, by hosting their first ever solo shows in Seoul. To name a few, Hyun wook Ryu (2008, Seoul in 2013), Tchunmo Nam (2015), Myungmi Lee (2015), and Jong Kyu Park (2016).
In addition, Leeahn continues its effort to reach out to wider audiences across the globe by showcasing at various international art fairs such as the Beijing Art Fair, Art Stage Singapore, and the Art Basel Hong Kong. Leeahn has annually participated at the Art Basel Hong Kong since 2014. At the Art Basel, Leeahn first introduced Korean artists Un Kyung Hur (2014), SeungJoo Kim (2015), Ja Hyun Koo(2016), and Kyo June Lee (2016). Many artists presented by Leeahn were also invited to world renowned art museum and gallery exhibitions. Leeahn Gallery continue to promote Korean artists to reach out to worldwide audiences and to maximize their opportunities of having exhibitions in both commercial and non commercial venues. Lastly, Leeahn also annually participates domestically at the Daegu Art Fair and Busan Art Fair to express our immense support and love of the regional art. Leeahn continues to pursue and expand the possibility of both regional and international art by continuously promoting them worldwide.
