Paul Taylor

Born: 1955

Hometown: San Francisco

Based in: Los Angeles

Paul Taylor, born in San Francisco, is a Los Angeles based photographer. He has been making commercial advertising work for 35 years, making abstract personal work for even longer, and is now weaving these strands together. His interest in the abstract is rooted in his exploration of the flat gridded farmlands of California. The land, like a blank sheet of paper, invites hard work and nurture to bring forth its creations.

More About Paul Taylor

Question IconWhat inspires you?

I find nature quite inspiring. From the microscopic to the cosmic, the astonishing variety, logic and mystery will never cease to amaze me.

Question IconDescribe your creative process.

I believe just doing the work, or play if you will, generates a creative flow. Once you have that, a strong image can come out of the most mundane circumstances. I often work on a few projects simultaneously because one project will inform the other in a sort of cross-fertilization.

Question IconWhat are 3 words that best describe your work?

Abstract, Luminous, Evocative.
