Born: 1985

Hometown: Lisbon

Based in: Lisbon

HUNGRIA is an art project by the engineer and Brazilian-Hungarian artist Lucas Hungria.

Heavily inspired by modernist architecture and industrial design, it explores geometric volumes, tridimensional perspectives and urban skylines, with a luminous color pallet.

The artist produces murals and artworks using collage, acrylic and spray on different surfaces such as paper, canvas, wood, old furniture and demolition material.

When born in Brazil, his first gift was an abstract painting from the uncle and designer Francisco de Almeida. Since then, art and architecture have influenced the artist.

More About Hungria

IconInspires

What inspires you?

Modernist and Contemporary Architecture as well as Industrial Design are my main inspirations. So Le Corbusier, Oscar Niemeyer, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Ricardo Bofill, Bauhaus School and the coolest international architecture offices nowadays are all around my work.

IconCreative

Describe your creative process.

I start creating the piece as if it was a city plan (a dream city). Then I imagine the focal point, the most interesting shadows and the color pallet that fits best. Finally, I define the light position that would increase the tri-dimensionality and sense of depth, always with a central building that is the heart of the piece.
