Artist statement
This watercolour is one of the series of miniatures made in Sarsala bay where I live and pictures a storm which was predicted by the Ancient Copts. They made a calendar of storms which is used by the salesman by now. I was surprised that during this storm the water and everything was of dark turquoise hues and I did several paintings from life. This one I enjoy most. I chose the watercolor for this work because it suits these atmospheric nuances best. I tried watercolor when I was 2 years old and it was my favourite medium for many years. As I tried different styles of watercolour I moved from realistic style to the abstract and elusive. I love special effects which create watercolour, this is not just painting - it's magiс and alchymy. Watercolour needs a special attitude, this is not evident, you need to use your fantasy and creativeness.
