Some places have a soul, an extra spark. After meandering up the mountain road, leaving the dramatic valley of Rjukan below, the plateau unfolds with Gaustatoppen rising above.
I took this picture on an overcast morning at Gausta Skisenter. I composed the image putting in value the cloudy landscape and waited that something interesting happens. Suddenly three cross-country skiers appeared on the scene wearing coincidentally red jackets. The long exposure choice just added dynamism.
This photograph is part of GAUSTA IN SEASONS: an award-winning project that has documented this world-class mountain Norwegian destination for almost ten months, from December 2019 to September 2020.

Artist Profile
Born: 1976
Hometown: Lima
Based in: Bergen, Norway
I'm a French-Peruvian fine art photographer based in Norway. Nature, urban life, and live music are among the topics that inspired me the most.
I've always been amazed by the beauty of nature and cultural heritage. In that sense, I got involved in photography while documenting ecotourism experiences in Peru during 2006.
After working for more than a decade as a sustainable development consultant, I decided to return to school and study photography as a new creative career. I would discover there influential artists such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Ernst Hass, Brett Weston, and Saul Leiter. They still have a significant impact on my aesthetics.
For my last project, Gausta in Seasons, I spent almost ten months (from December 2019 to September 2020) exploring this world-class mountain Norwegian destination.
Nowadays, I'm working on other visual projects in Bergen.
[Art Statement]
I like observing, in detail, the world(s) around me. So, I found in photography the art medium through which I can share what impresses me the most.
I believe in evolving things. That´s why my approach to photography is also a self-therapy to feed me with new remarkable experiences.
In that sense, nature and urban life are essential topics for me. I feel that both of them expand my creative process. When going outdoors, I take the time to encounter and enjoy my subjects: people, objects, or situations; they all matter.
