Artist Statement
This symbol of the fist is found across different eras and is widely recognised as a symbol of freedom, the battle against oppression as well as unity. This particular fist was captured at the beginnings of the Black Lives Matter protests and serves as a reminder for everyone who walks into the room it is mounted in, that there is still exists a large gap between people of colour and predominantly white communities with regards to equality. Let us never forget.
