Aleksandra Krasnopolska

Born: 1984

Hometown: Odessa

Based in: Gran Canaria

Aleksandra Krasnopolska is a ceramic artist from Odessa, Ukraine, now based in Spain and Poland.

Aleksandra worked as an architect and interior designer before turning to sculpture. When she picked up clay for the first time, she fell in love with the material. "The most amazing thing is how easy and beautiful I did it the first time, how pleasant and facile the clay was," she says. "It was love at first touch!"

Krasnopolska's sculptures are biomorphic, seeming to slide and shift as you walk around them. Krasnopolska's work evokes the beautiful female form, as well as the waves of the Ocean, where Aleksandra draws so much of her inspiration. The sculptures are made using a process that the artist refers to as "flow art". Every piece is a form of meditation.

More About Aleksandra Krasnopolska

Question IconWhat inspires you?

Inspiration for me is, first and foremost, the energy of pleasure, when I am in harmony with my feminine nature and what I do and where I am... Contemplating nature helps me relax and feel the source within myself, helps me feel the unity of all living things, my connection with all that is alive.

Question IconDescribe your creative process.

I call it "Flow Art". I never create sketches or preconceived plans for my sculptures. Taking the clay in my hands, I let go of control and completely trust the flow, immersing myself in the process. Each piece reflects my inner state, free from expectations or attachment to the outcome.

Question IconWhat are 3 words that best describe your work?

Sensual, Biomorphic, Fluid.
