Alysha Rahmat Shah is a Singaporean visual artist who enjoys creating mixed media and watercolour works. She spends most of her time experimenting with different printmaking techniques. Having studied etching, silkscreening and dry point techniques, she favours the art of lithography. All of the work she has created for her final year submissions at LaSalle College of the Arts, were Lithograph prints and different forms of experimentation done on the prints.

THE TANGKAK SERIES, 2016

"As a printmaker that specializes in the art of lithography, I decided to really focus on that technique, creating 10 lithograph prints based off my Uncle’s farm at the base of Mount Ophir in Tangkak, Malaysia.

As a child, my sisters and I spent almost all of my time rolling around in mud, attempting to climb trees, hiking up waterfalls and running barefoot helter-skelter all over the farm, chasing the animals. This is what inspired the circular shape of my prints. I wanted them to resemble a peephole into my idea of paradise. The farm epitomizes beauty, peace and serenity, which is what I am trying to achieve and portray in detail. I also want for people to be able to see and understand the charm and magic of the land the way I see it.

Each of my lithographic prints are inspired by a particular memory that is dear to me."
