Anatoly Belyavsky is a contemporary Belarusian artist. He works in the genres of landscape, portrait, and historical painting. He follows the traditions of the classical realist school of painting. Of all the genres that Anatoly Belyavsky works in, his landscapes take pride of place. He takes inspiration from the works of Ivan Aivazovsky and William Turner. His canvases are imbued with tempestuous moods and stormy emotions. Hills and rock faces as well as majestic trees and thunderheads are expressively painted using wide brushstrokes, and they help to markedly intensify the artist's work. The clarity of the artist's composition and the play of cold and warm colors create spectacular and solemn images of nature. Paintings on large-format canvases, in which the sharp tonal contrasts create emotionally intense scenes, occupy a special place in the artist's work. It is in such works that Anatoly Belyavsky feels most at ease. The artist has been able to reveal his true strength and talent in the course of his arduous and painstaking work on large canvases.

More About Anatoly Belyavsky

Question IconWhat inspires you?

Belarusian nature is so plain and artless for some and at the same time genuine and poetic in its beauty and grace.

Question IconWhat are 3 words that best describe your work?

Art should be superexalting and inspiring, not frightening and suppressing.

Question IconWhere do you go for inspiration?

For me, creating is like breathing, sleeping, or eating. I can’t just give up creativity. I will work in any conditions.
