Artist Name

Anton Del Castillo

Hometown: Manila

Based in: Manila, Philippines

Anton del Castillo references the schemata of gilded altars and classical marble statuary in his body of work, often in the critique of the excess of piety and misdirected righteousness. His pieces put up to light, what he perceives to be the edification of errors in human understanding especially religious precepts, in order to serve as markers and reminders of folly even unto the intentions of holiness. Del Castillo uses his work as a means to rectify these follies but exposing wrong constructs, false gods and the like. Del Castillo is a 2009 Fellow of the Asian Cultural Council and was a Grand Prize Winner for Painting in the Metrobank Arts and Design Excellence.
