ASPARTIME is an open artist group made up of Qu Xiao and Liu Fengya. In 2011, they both received their MFA from Chelsea School of Art, University of the Arts, London, and returned to China in the same year. In early 2012, they founded Aspartime to explore whether contemporary art can exist more independently and freely. Since 2012, Aspartime has carried out a series of online art projects, including “Weibo Update Program”, “Taobao Program”, “Artistic Talent Development Program”, “The Rabbit Hole Program”, etc. Since 2015, Aspartime has expanded its creation more offline, with media including images, paintings, sculptures, installation, etc. The main solo exhibitions include: “Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose”, Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing (2021); “Brancusi·T’s Model Shop”, Ying Space, Beijing (2017); “Ké”, Ying Space, Beijing (2015); “Just what is it that makes today’s life so different, so appealing?” Ying Space, Beijing (2014). The main group exhibitions include: “I Do (Not) Want To Be Part Of Your Celebration”, Qiao Space, Shanghai (2017); “πππ”, I:Project space, Beijing (2015); “China 8”, Museum Folkwang, Germany (2015).
