Avazeh Hashemloo

Born: 1980

Hometown: Umeå

Based in: Umeå

Avazeh is an emerging artist with a background in science.
She started her journey as an artist in 2010. She also holds a PhD degree in theoretical physics from Umeå University.
As an artist with a background in science, she has always been fascinated by geometric shapes and mathematical graphs which describe and depict abstract phenomena in Physics. During the last few years her art has been prominently evolved and influenced by this fascination. This has led her artistic direction toward a geometric, abstract and hardedge style.
In her works she explores the relationship between lines and curves and shows how these components interacts with each other in order to create new geometries and shapes. Choice of colours are playing an important role in Avazeh's creations. In her works, she explores how different pieces, that have their own shape, colour and identity, can come together to form a unified and harmonic composition. She believes that colours can elevate the whole dimension of a painting by creating a contrast between different sections in a painting. In most of her works, she uses different shades of an specific colour in order to give a composition a multilayered or a multidimensional impression.
Many of her works are inspired by phenomena in Quantum Physics.

More About Avazeh Hashemloo

Question IconWhat inspires you?

Everything around me! I'm a very curious person. I pay close attention to details in nature; to how light interacts with colours and to all lines and curves that give form to objects and their shadows. I'm also very intellectual and have a philosophical view on life. Abstract phenomena, such as quantum physics and mathematics inspire me as well.

Question IconDescribe your creative process.

I get inspired. Then I start to work on composition and form for my painting. I draw my sketches on computer. Then comes the most satisfying and yet the most challenging part: to choose my colour pallet! I try many different colour combinations on computer until I find the RIGHT one (it can takes some days). Then comes the painting!

Question IconWhat are 3 words that best describe your work?

Colourful! Bold! Unique!

Question IconWhat is the most important tool when creating your work?

My computer and my special brush for varnishing!

Question IconWhat is the best piece of advice you have been given?

It's never too late to start something new! Be always curious and question everything and contemplate on who you are!
