Bhavna Shivayogimath (b.1984) is a visual artist and a filmmaker. Her body of work ranges from mixed media paintings, murals to commercials and other films. Bhavna has lived in Mumbai, Bangkok, U.S.A, Singapore and is now based in Berlin. She graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, with a Masters of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production. She debuted her first solo exhibition in Singapore in December 2016 and has participated in the biannual Boutiques Fair in Singapore in March 2017.
Bhavna’s artworks explore topics of gender, identity and self-expression in a globalised contemporary society. She draws inspiration from images of urban life scenarios on social media feed and other main stream media. She internalises these images through a lens of humour, which then dictates her creative process. Her work employs a multi-coloured palette and punch line-esque titles to draw the viewer's attention to underlying issues of disconnection and dysfunctions in society.
