Brandon Woods‘ artworks bridge art, craft, science, and mathematics. He creates prismatic photographs and dynamic abstract paintings on dimensional shaped panels. He earned his MFA in Painting from SCAD in 2015. He has received numerous awards and grants for his work, including, most recently, a Bailey Opportunity Grant through the Knoxville Arts & Culture Alliance. His work has been exhibited and collected throughout the United States and internationally, in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, Hong Kong, Canada, and France. He lives and works in Knoxville, TN, USA.
Describe your creative process.
I observe and question what is known in the world and assumed to be true, and then use science, mathematics, and my own inventions to challenge it and show it to be otherwise through my artwork.

Leonardo DaVinci, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, James Turrell, Josef and Anni Albers, Ellsworth Kelly, Wassily Kandinsky, William Morris, Kenneth Noland, Ad Reinhardt, Barnett Newman, Jo Baer, Sol LeWitt, John Cage, René Magritte, Lee Bontecou, Paul Cézanne, Fillipo Brunelleschi, Rachel Roysch, Diego Velázquez, Claude Monet, Edweard Muybrudge. Some other great minds who have influenced my work include: Isaac Newton, Eric R. What is the most important tool when creating your work?
My most important tool is my mind.
Where do you go for inspiration?
I go to my studio. Inspiration comes through work, and through the challenge each artwork brings.
