Che-Yu Hsu was born in 1985 in Taipei. He has a Master's degree from Tainan National University of the Arts, Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts. Although mostly known for his video installations and new media art, Hsu's art practice extends beyond that.
In 2012, he participated in residencies at the Society for Arts and Technology, Montreal, Canada and SOHO IN OTTAKRING in Vienna, Austria. He has had numerous solo exhibitions throughout Taiwan and in Montreal, and has also participated in group exhibitions across the world, in places like Hong Kong, New York, New Zealand, Istanbul, Korea, and many more. His artworks are collected extensively, and are in the collections of the Kaohsiung Museum, Taiwan Art Bank, and National Taiwan Museum. In 2011 he won the Kaohsiung Fine Arts Award, and the gold medal of New Media Art at the National Taiwan Museum Nation-Wide Award.
