Cheksant Gangakate is a Thai-American who was born in Bangkok but was based in the US for a number of years before returning. He has lived, studied and worked in Texas, Nebraska and San Francisco and hold a BFA in Fine Art, and later a MFA. Gangakate gained a number of awards and recognitions while in the US. His paintings typically have an unconventional heavy texture, build up with mixed media. His investigations in the issue of socio-cultural, globalization, metaphysics, later he has begun to embrace a variety of methods, exploring the idea of Under Erasure with, crossing painting with other mixed media as extended field.

What inspires you?
Our surrounding environment, from city life to nature hike.
Describe your creative process.
As I start a new set of work, I need to research, explored, develop ideas to reach a concept which process in tandem with choosing medium. Later, the visual language unfold as I interrogate and try to exhaust the ideas, then move on.
