“To me, art means my endless passion for and a process of giving meaning to everything that exists. Like the circular process of birth, death and rebirth, around me are eggs and feather, mountains and water, and day and night flowing in and out of me. In the past few years, I have been focusing on things that stimulate my senses – action & reaction, things on which I focus & choosing and discarding. The repetitive pattern of my life seems to tame me so much that I got scared that I might forget the meaning of life and existence. Therefore I ask myself…do I want to live… or does my art come alive…” (From the artist’s note)
About the paintings & creative process
Regarding the ‘feather’ as an ‘objet’, I executed the works of ‘cessation of phenomenonological judgement’ and the new ‘phenomenological reduction’ that resulted in the secondary symbol of ‘endlessness of ephemeral time’ in terms of existence as well as ‘transcendent beauty that the ephemera embraces’ in terms of art. Expressing ‘feather’ through ink on brush in a thin line, moving ‘temporality’ is given to the ‘space’ that is a retarded form of ‘time’. Simultaneously, moving ‘spirituality’ is given to the ‘material’ that is a retarded form of the ‘spirit’.
