Born in Buenos Aires in 1976 and now based in Spain, Diego Tirigall grew up in a family of antique dealers and art restorers, instilling in him a deep respect for art from a young age. A self-taught artist, Tirigall has developed a unique style that blends elements of neo-expressionism, art brut, and street art. His work is characterized by bold primary colors and a knack for deconstructing pop culture, offering a critique of modern life without dwelling on its darker aspects. Tirigall's art aims to activate critical reflection in the viewer, challenging them to decode and engage in meaningful debate on current issues like financial decentralization and screen addiction.
What inspires you?
In a world captivated by the endless scroll, my artwork blends street art with expressionism to seize fleeting memories, turning digital phenomena into meditations on identity and the ephemeral nature of our times. It's a quest to reclaim our essence amidst the digital deluge.
Describe your creative process.
My journey begins with jotting down striking phrases and ideas in a travel journal, a wellspring of inspiration. These scribbles evolve into narratives I piece together in my mind, akin to assembling Lego blocks. This period of contemplation sets the stage for painting, where each stroke breathes life into abstract concepts, transforming them into tangible expressions of art. Guided by the myriad emotions and thoughts I've captured, I craft pieces that are not just personal, but soulful reflections of the human experience.

What is the most important tool when creating your work?
The cornerstone of my artistry lies in the freedom to wield unconventional tools.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
Embrace your mistakes as opportunities for growth, and nothing will hold you back.
Where do you go for inspiration?
Inspiration springs from the dynamic interplay between everyday life and the digital realm, with social media acting as a powerful conduit. It infuses my creative process with a rich tapestry of perspectives, continually fueling my artistic vision.
